New edition just published! Focusing on rape culture.

In their first interview since they became known for blogging and podcasting their sexual exploits, Jared Rutledge and Jacob Owens of Asheville, North Carolina — owners of Waking Life Expresso — tell the story of what they did, why they did it, and reveal the truth about the “Manosphere,” the “Red Pill” subculture and PUA (pickup artist) culture.

They began by looking for information about polyamory (conscious, responsible nonmonogamy), but Google searches led them to the New York Times bestselling book The Game by Neil Strauss.

Suddenly finding success using these dating and seduction techniques, they began tweeting, podcasting and blogging their experiences. Listen to their story in this Planet Waves FM exclusive interview.

  1. I want to thank all three of you for this unusually candid interview on a topic that is, I feel, at the heart of the divide between intimacy and sexuality in relationships, be it between a man and a woman, a man with a man, or a woman with a woman. I am 63 and female, and have met many people in different cultures in my life, and I have met few who have an ongoing relationship of intimacy that includes being sexual with each other. For myself, I left a 27 year marriage because we were, like many other couples I know, just best friends. Having made that decision, I am even more aware of how internalized this state of being is. The more I explore this, the more I run into a rock bed of internal mistrust that won’t allow for this in my life as yet. Eric, thank you for the many forums who are providing for this human essential need that is quite damaged in our current reality.
