On tonight's program, I size up the discovery of dioxins in waste soil shipped out of East Palestine. We check in with Zsuzsa Gyenes on what's happening in town and with the health of other residents. And I review the ongoing astrology of March 2023.
The U.S. EPA has said that it's ordered Norfolk Southern to test for dioxin in East Palestine to determine whether "contaminants from the derailment pose any unacceptable risk to human health." That implies that there is an acceptable risk. Who decides what is acceptable? And What, exactly, is "risk"? Find out tonight on Planet Waves FM.
We are all in East Palestine. Conflict of interest? Get off the case. Demand split sampling for dioxins and furans.
I am joined on tonight's program by Alec Zeck , host of The Way Forward. I begin with an update of the major news items of the week, talk about what's happening in East Palestine, and give historical perspective on the discovery, isolation and purification of dioxin in the 1950s. Thanks for joining me tonight.
On Friday's program, I will explain the dioxin issue from top to bottom, back to its discovery in 1949 to the train wreck on Feb. 3. We must demand that the government conduct dioxin tests in East Palestine and for hundreds of miles around. They still have not done so — at least publicly. And people have been allowed back into their homes.
